Hypothetical question: What if tipping were banned/outlawed?

How would the market react?

Would there suddenly be no good service available, anywhere?

Would nobody ever be willing to serve food?

Or would the laws of supply and demand dictate that wages would automatically rise, and bad servers would be nullified in the process?

Would those rising wages mean a 15% increase in restaurant labor costs, reflected in menu prices, so you'd end up paying the same amount anyways?
