I think pitching while holding leads is more important and more pressure than when behind or when the game is tied. When teams are behind, they push more. On Thursday the bullpen could have pitched great for 11 innings but if they had not finished the game in the bottom of the 16th, none of that would have mattered would it?
That's why they says "It's important when your team puts up a crooked number, for your pitcher to not allow the other team the same crooked number".
