I seem to remember that support for the Liberals was way up and there was talk that the PC's would be in a minority or might even lose the election. Problem was the timing, when people saw the Liberals surging they had second thoughts and switched back to the PC's resulting in the ridiculous majority that they won. If the Liberals had surged earlier or later they might have done well.
