I don't think there is much more that can be gained here (I have learned quite a bit) - I know that you are not a spokesperson for this issue but I have yet to hear a compelling argument (or any argument for that matter) on why this issue and this issue only (as far as I know) brings the body to the mind and not the mind to the body.

I brought up the deaf community because there has been a huge controversy in the deaf community with the advent of cochlear implants with advcates for deaf culture argueing that implants are wrong, evil in fact as deafness is the natural state of kids born without hearing and they should embrace deafness as a positive thing, in fact being deaf is better than being able to hear. It is a wierd arguement that is really rooted in a fear that in the next few decades deafness will dissapear in the western world and so their small safe community will disappear with it.
I think there are some obvious parallels.
