It's been baffling to me for the last few games that Carroll will play so well in the starting 11, and then be on the bench the next week. Without Carroll on, we really don't have anyone who is forcing defenders back and pressuring them consistently. Suarez does it as well as he can, but he also drops off from balls in the air and comes back to midfield to support the ball. Kuyt is kind of the same. He'll never be a true target man because he does so much work in other areas. From every Carroll appearance I've seen lately, he's done a great job of holding the ball up and moving the game forward. It's exactly what he was missing earlier this year and last year as well. He's gotta be starting the majority of games now that we're out of any league race this year.
