That is ridiculous.
Man kills innocent kid. Cops support random murder. turmoil erupts. Police chief takes a few weeks off under the guise of "In light of these events, I have stepped down! cough temporarily cough" so that he doesn't have to deal with the ####storm.
Makes perfect sense to me.
