They then figured they could move into the brand new park built in a lower income neighbourhood, as it was lower income and the people would cause less trouble.

The local mothers confronted the protestors and told them to F-off. Commercial Drive is home to many low income people, the people they were supposedly representing, but they wanted nothing to do with occupy:
