I ran the Tour De Airdrie one fine morning in a howling blizzard, with Deerfoot trail down to 60 kmh on the way there, a 20 below zero windchill throughout the race, water stations frozen solid and everyone having to wade through snowdrifts. A few hundred still took the trouble to run and a sizeable chunk, I suspect, took advantage of the "double loop" aspect of the race to shorten the distance by about one-third and end their misery early.

I thought that would be the worst weather race I would run in my life but it was eclipsed by a long shot by Footstock Half in Cochrane last year.
