My sister one summer worked at Sobeys. Some Calgarians assumed that she was working there so she must be from there. Starting asking her if she'd every been to the 'big city' and generally being condescending deltabravos.

Unfortunately, the exact opposite can be said as well about locals being condescending and snooty to out-of-towners. I think it is more a factor of personality type (see "deltabravo") than town of origin.
