So what are you suggesting? Because there's already a huge amount of environmental degradation, why not keep going and build a ski resort?
No. I was just dismissing the notion of "pristine wilderness", because it is not. I've also mentioned in a previous post that, by exposing the backend of the valley internationally, it may have a positive impact on how industry manages their activities back there. Additionally, a huge part of the proposal was how to fit within the existing developed (and abandoned) areas.

How am I acting righteous by pointing out that Albertans often don't consider the "other side"?
Of course, you're denigrating Albertans by making grand sweeping gestures as to "single-mindedness" and pretty much inferring a lack of caring or appreciation for the environment. There seems to be an inferiority complex with much of the Columbian Valley inhabitants due to the reliance on Alberta's recreational dollars supporting their economy.

The ultimate irony being that if they wanted to spur their economy to encourage native-BCers to stay, it would almost have to be in the logging or mining industry. But a ski resort designed specifically around environmental concerns is evil! And Albertans that spend their hard-earned money in the local Columbia Valley economy are heartless weekend warriors leaving a path of uncaring environmental destruction in their wake.

Then there is the fact that many of us have invested in real estate in that area and actually have a reason to care about the economy, land value, environmental concerns, etc. (beyond just having happened to be born there or have their parents move there.)
