That is pretty much the crux of the argument, it is about protecting a child from potentially lifelong health problems associated with smoking including asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, a gambit of cancers and SIDS.

I know you disagree with universal health care - so what happens to someone who is screwed over because of their parents stupidity and smoking in a car with a child? They have lifelong health issues that they are faced with - this is something which could potentially cut down on these problems and the cost to society, wouldn't you find this to be a good thing?
