Maintenance is quick and easy. They're literally everywhere.

I think Stephen King's The Stand is the only post-apocalyptic scenario where the characters actually realized they could ride bikes, and they eventually become the primary mode of transportation (as they logically would). But they look dopey on camera and there's probably a lot of administrative nonsense involved with putting actors on bikes, so it never happens ever.
Or how about in every post apocalyptic film I have seen, the road out of town is completely jammed up with vehicles, bumper to bumper, yet the road into town is completely empty. In real life people would be driving out of town on both lanes.

Look on the cover of season one, the lane out of town is bumper to bumper yet Rick is riding into Atlanta with no cars in site.

Comeone Hollywood, lets make it real already. My 2 cents.

Doesn't change the fact that I love the show however. The only thing I wish is that Rick and Lorie would keep a better eye on that little kid of theirs. As if he walks out into the dark by himself after he hears a gun blast.
