if I understand correctly, Schultz played a year of junior, plus three years of college after getting drafted. This allows him to opt for UFA status July 1st. Same situation as Blake Wheeler - went to free agency and signed with the Bruins after his junior year of college. Flames prospect, Nick Larson, could go this route if he choose to leave college now - doubt he'd get much fanfare

Ramage has played three years of college. College players have to be signed by Aug 15th the summer after they leave school. He could also choose not sign and become a UFA as well.
