As long as he isn't the last man back I don't mind that he tries this. If he is moving up the ice with a full head of steam and tries this move, the opposing d-men will start backing in on the following attempts and this will help create room throughout the game. Lee Stempniak made Duncan Keith look like a junior d-men. It doesn't work all the time but it doesn't mean attempting it is useless.
