You assessment that he has 'a lot of work to do' is valid in the sense that every young player has to work hard to improve, but your comment suggests he has shown some sort of weakness that he must overcome (of course, you didn't mention what that weakness is).

I'm not saying the kid doesn't have any weaknesses, but he isn't showing any att the moment. He's been in position, hasn't taken any unnecessary risks and he capitalized on his opportunities. He's fast, quick and has thus far shown to have a high work ethic on every shift...not sure where the 'lots of work to do' comes from at all.
Yes, it is no surprise that he has work to do. He has played a total of 3 NHL games now so that is completely expected.

To elaborate on some of his weaknesses that I have seen in his few games at the NHL level is that he often is leaving his zone a little early looking for a pass. He needs to provide support a bit lower down in his own end. He is obviously excited so I am not really that concerned with this. Iggy is notorious for this is well but that doesn't mean it is smart hockey.

As well, he seems to be a little over active with his stick. He is using his feet for the most part so they are not really penalties but he needs to try and get body position.

The other issues that I have seen have to do with the fact his is pretty much a boy playing against men. With that said, I am surprised at how much he initiates contact. He doesn't duck or dodge checks and braces properly for oncoming hits. As he thickens up a bit this will definitely help his game.
