Mass Effect 2 had day 1 DLC, Zaeed and Normandy Crash Site, I purchased the Collector's edition for both so I didn't have to pay the "extra" any way. If you don't want the DLC or think EA is screwing you over, don't get it, it's not like it's critical to the game.
Apparently the ending is where this game fails big time, I have no idea (except that it's bleak) as I'm just helping the Quarians now, but the internet is ablaze with anger over how the game ends.
I bet it's an EA/Bioware ploy to get another $10 out of us for "Rainbows and Unicorns Ending DLC"
