I looked into pet insurance when we got our Yellow Labrador 2 years ago. In the end, it seemed like it was going to be a waste of money.

Thus far, he has only had vet visits for his shots and checkups, so it appears to have been the wise decision (so far).

I will note that we are in a position where a $5,000 vet bill for some emergency wouldn't destroy us financially, so that definitely played a factor in the decision.
