Cant go wrong with the GOTY Edition which includes all the DLC for $12! I paid $55 last fall. Civ 5 isnt as good as Civ 4, IMO, but is still a good Civ game. The hex tiles, 1 unit per square, and city radius expansion changes help the game out a lot. With the expansion of Gods and Kings this spring, adding religion back into the game, Civ 5 should be back on the list of one of my favorites again.
