I completely disagree, in large part because—as a number of astute posters have already pointed out—this show is not just about zombie carnage. In fact, it is not even its primary focus.

The farm presents a place of refuge for the group to explore the idea of creating a better world—or of preserving some semblance of the old one. It is clearly not permanent, and I expect that they will be moving on by the end of this season—but were it not for the farm, we wouldn't have the opportunity to see the building tension taking place between Rick and Shane, or Darryl's gradual disenfranchisement, or Carl's growing callousness and disregard for life. Furthermore, we wouldn't have the chance to see Lori's growing sense of entitlement, which I believe is soon to become a major problem for the group.

I am sad to see Dale go, but also very interested to see what kind of effect this will have on the group. Someone mentioned it earlier, and I also believe that Andrea will take Dale's place as the conscience for the group.

Also, how horrible must life be for Carl? To be the ONLY kid in a group of adults; no one to play with; to constantly be pushed aside and left out; to have several mothers and fathers but no peers with which to commiserate? How much has Sofia's death and Carl's resulting isolation affected the change in his character?

While watching this week's episode I kept thinking about what life must be like for Carl. How many of us as kids relished spending all our time alone with the adults in our lives? I sure as hell didn't, and I expect that this is taking a severe toll on him psychologically.
