Depends on the company and the circumstances.... At the company I work for as an adjuster it is considered a comp claim if the vehicle is parked and there is absolutely no information of the other vehicle. Even if they know it was a blue car and that's it, it's considered a collision. Not every company does this though but I know of a few including the place I was workin at as a broker for before.




I didn't see this post before. I would also add that you need to take into account if the animal is in motion or not. If it is in motion it is comprehesive but if you hit a stationary animal ie roadkill this would be considered collision. You are deemed not at fault if you hit an animal in motion and at fault if you hit a stationary animal. If you swerve to miss a live animal and hit a tree you are at fault so make sure you hit the animal

Just curious as to what company this is that would deem a hit and run as a comprehensive claim?
