It has to be bittersweet. Peyton Manning is the Colts history in Indiapolis, and turned that franchise around. No Manning and the Colts today quite possibly have no new stadium, and are rumored to be on the move again.
But he's not the first legend to move on and he won't be the last. If Andrew Luck wasn't what he is on the field, and didn't carry himself the way he did, maybe Manning is retained. But I think it's similar to when Farve left Green Bay...four years from now they'll remember Manning fondly, but they'll be winning with his replacement.
