Does living day to day like that with the worst outlook being eaten by a zombie sound worse than living in suburbia and going to work 5 days a week for the next 30 appox years and hopefully retiring with the worst outlook being eaten by a shark/bear/car accident, maimed by drunk driver, murdered in street robbing, or suffering some terminal disease that's painful and drags on for a few years.
Clearly having a good day at the office right now.

You should watch "The Road" then, you'll appreciate your 9-5 life and what it could be. It's not a zombie flick but it is post apocalyptic. You never really know what caused the apocalypse. Even though it's about survival and trying to keep a little humanity alive I couldn't help but feel like it was hopeless and wished the main character would just "do it".
