I've never read the comics or anything, but this is how I see parts of the rest of the season shaking down:

The escaped prisoner brings the other group down on Rick's group, huge battle ensues during which, Shane attempts to kill Rick but someone kills Shane during the attempt (possibly Carl). I also think the farm and farm house get burnt out during the battle, forcing the group to move on.
