You know what, I agree with that 100%.
The problem is, our politcal leaders and the media do exactly the same thing. The whole case for the Iraq war used that same recipe.
Osama bin Laden wants to attack the U.S with WMD.
Saddam Hussein might have WMD.
Some guy that knows Saddam Hussein talked to a guy who knows bin Laden.
After all these kinds of statements were made, and with the pre-conceived notions many Americans had after 9/11, many actually believed (and many probably still do believe) that Iraq had something to do with 9/11 even though there is no evidence for that.
Governments use the whole 'conspiracy theory' formula all the time. Hitler used it on Germans. Julius Caesar on the Romans. Napoleon on the French. I'm sure the list is countless. It's up to us to figure out when and expose it. I'm not saying this issue one of course, but it's good to pay attention anyway.
