From a reliable source who works in the dog rescue field, they looked into it and:
Baby was left in room crying, dog was in kennel, dog got up from kennel and picked up baby to comfort it much like it would a puppy of its own.
I'd prefer they had surrendered the dog. But really, it was their dog, their kid was killed, their choice. Pretty hard to judge.
Sad for dog and kid today.
