My little guy (almost 3) has been "accident free" for about eight months now. I did most of the "work" with him, starting as soon as he could walk. Every single time I had to "go", I brought him along...before long it became a game and his interest soon got the better of him. I started with him flushing the toilet for me (which he loved) and he quickly started pulling his diaper off (all on his own) after being coaxed to "make a pee-pee like daddy" a few times. After joining me every morning (after that proverbial first cup of coffee) he also figured out that there was no reason to sit around in a pile of his own crap when he could just as easily pull his pants off and sit on his potty. He is fully independant now; even gets himself up and goes into the washroom on his own in the middle of the night.

Being a role model to your boy seems to go a long way in this "particular matter"...at least in my experience.

Getting him interested in "it" early on was likely the key thing.
