It was only a matter of time
It wasn’t pretty but the Hurricanes find a way to squeak out a victory against the Blue Jackets. After falling behind the Blue Jackets 2-0 into the second period as Olli Jokinen and Tony Amonte added goals for the home team. Hurricanes center Daymond Langkow add the Hurricanes lone goal in the period as the Hurricanes went into the 2st intermission trailing the Blue Jackets 2-1.
Hurricanes coach Hanna must have rallied up the troop in the intermission as the Hurricanes came out flying and were rewarded with a beautiful end to end rush by one of the most exciting players in the CPHL as Alexander Ovechkin did the rope-a-dope on the committed Manny Legace. Once the Hurricanes had the momentum they didn’t look back as it was a matter of time that the Blue Jackets defence would collapse and the Hurricanes pressure would take advantage of it. At 14:18 that is exactly what happened as Frantisek Kaberle slapped home a high side shot passed the Jackets goaltender as the Hurricanes for the first time in the game took the lead, a lead that they would ride out the period and victory over the Blue Jackets.
