Oil end a three game mini series with a 5 – 1 win over the Flyers.

Oil continue to keep pace with the big bad Thrash for the Hilton Hotels Sponsorship, granted the top CPHL team. And keep pace with the red hot Flames, who continue to chase the Oil like a rabid dog in the Martin Division.

Injuries are high right now in the CPHL, and the Oil feel the wrath as well, with our top forward and all star defenseman on the shelf. Tonight a few of the young kids stepped up to help fill the void. Marc-Antoine Pouliot opened the second period only 7 seconds in with a power play goal. Assisted by Morozov and Joel Andresen. Two minutes later Joel answers with a goal of his own to give the Oil a three-goal cushion. Jay Bouwmeester also added a goal late in third. Vinny and Hossa rounded out the scoring for the Oil.

Martin was not very busy today as the defense kept the play to the outside and never really allowed the Flyers to gain much pressure. As the Oil out shot the Flyers on the night thirty-two – seventeen.

Marian Hossa has really elevated his game in the absence of the machine to the lineup. After loosing to the Flyers three games ago, Hossa has taken it upon himself to get us going in the right direction with 4 goals, 5 assists for 9 points and a +7 in the last two games. Hossa currently sits third on the CPHL scoring race with 93 points, including 51 goals

Notes.

R.J. Umberger and Joel Andressen fight to a draw

Joel has now played in 39 games, recorded 3 goals, 3 assists and is a +7.

A solid future CPHL star.

Who’s next?
