The time travel thing - both ways apparently - is a compelling mystery but, as others have noted, they're not helping themselves with out of control snipers gunning down the innocent and landmines blowing up all over the place.

That stuff just doesn't fit on the scale you're seeing. It really does require a more subtle plotline to function.

And the fat guy from Lost is a horrible, distracting actor. Kill him!! Not the beautiful Time Traveller. (Incidentally, she's exactly the face I had long ago pinned on British submarine Captain Karen Halabi in John Birmingham's Axis Of Time series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weapons_of_Choice ).
