Has anyone looked into the upgrade to XBox gold that is now required to use the XBox as a set top box. I received a letter from Telus explaining that it would be required and the first year would be free. It seemed like a money grab at first, but the money doesn't go to Telus, you sign up directly with Microsoft so I assume Telus wouldn't put up with the complaints unless they thought it would be worthwhile for the consumer. (or maybe they get a kickback)
My question is what am I actually getting with the upgrade? 95% of the time I use the XBox as a STB so I don't think I will appreciate any of the non Telus related perks of the gold membership. Is it now $60 a year to be able to use hand and voice commands to change channels or is there more to it?
Thanks
