We have timezones and daylight savings probably due to the needs of early 20th Century industries like farming and the railroads...needs which no longer exist today.
Maybe as the Global economy gets more synchronized there may be a reason for this...but I don't see it soon.
Plus the song 'Working 9-5' would become meaningless outside of Greenwich and I'm not in favour of that.
