Chucking a brick at a cop's head. Engaging in a mob attack of a dude defending a store from looting. Those are certainly more serious.
As for his sentence, it is likely one of the most severe we'll see. His prior record, the fact he was on bail when he committed these offences, makes it much easier to give him a jail sentence. Most of these kids will have no priors, and the court will not give them jail time. I could see lots of conditional sentence orders and probation coming out of this, but I think this fellow will be one of very few getting significant time in the joint.
