On the cheapest fare buckets trans-atlantic, Lufthansa often gives 50% or less miles for Aeroplan, so obviously if Aeroplan miles are important, avoid like the plague.
That being said, if your Air Canada fare maps to the "N, G, P, E, or A" buckets (Tango) overseas (except China, I believe), you'll also only get 50% miles.
Air Canada is making it harder and harder to stay loyal.
