NBC just added a lot more bite to its upcoming roster.

The network has given a 13-episode order to the series "Hannibal," a thriller based on the Thomas Harris novel and "The Silence of the Lambs" predecessor "Red Dragon."

That's right -- break out the fava beans and chianti, Hannibal Lecter's coming to network TV.

The series, which will feature Lecter and his protege, FBI agent Will Graham, in the beginning stages of their relationship, will be written and executive-produced by "Pushing Daisies" and "Heroes" veteran Bryan Fuller. (Fuller is also executive-producing the network's edgy, dramatic reworking of the classic comedy "The Munsters.")

Martha De Laurentiis -- who produced the Harris-based films "Red Dragon" (the 2002 version), "Hannibal" and "Hannibal Rising," will also executive-produce the series, which comes from Gaumont International Television.

Also added to NBC's acquisitions on Tuesday: The pilot "Notorious," a soapy drama about a female detective who goes undercover among the wealthy family she grew up in -- as the maid's daughter -- to solve the murder of a heiress who was once her best friend.

The pilot, which comes via Universal TV and BermanBraun, is written by Liz Heldens, an alum of the network's recently shelved "Prime Suspect" adaptation. Heldens is also co-producing, along with Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein.
