Moon, I am basing my guess on current points and other parameters. Since it was a toss up (like a tie), I used a quick reference of goal differential as a deciding tool. The NHL uses this tool as well as one of their ways to decide a tie breaker. I just so happen to use as a final ranking tool. Again, as mentioned, the ranking is not about which team is better but a final standing result.
If you had read my previous few posts carefully instead of clouding your judgement by getting your organs engorged in a blood-filled frenzy, then you might have comprehend the issue much better. Your knowledge of hockey is unprecedented...to the moon.

Huh? There you go again Textcritic with your freudian psychoanalysis of random inkblots. The only run-in I had regarding my inferiority complex was this summer when I came out of the cold water of Wizard lake at my parents cottage and realizing my trunks had slipped off. It took a vacuum pump and plenty of coaxing and soaking. It wasn't pretty but I got over it.
My ranking is what it is, a ranking representing the final standing at the end of the year as described by the op. At least I am basing on something like a goal diff stat as well as the current point total which maybe more than some of the other posters whom have presented earlier.
I believe your logic which discounts my approach and calling it without "rational basis" is irrational. I supported my position well enough. It is your determination that is proving futile and baseless which is to find something hidden in a pandora's box when there is no box to be found.
From my understanding of this thread, it was to rank the Cdn teams' final standing at the end of the year and not which team is currently better. There are many intangibles as well as tangibles to consider with teams from different conferences.
