I don't know if its good or bad news. The government as a whole is filled with hardliners, and the two factions The military and the Intelligence apparatus are more concerned with controlling the civillian population then reforming a system that benefits the leaders greatly.

While Jong-Nam is considered to be the least hardline of the children, anyone who steps into that leaders spot will be controlled by either Il's inlaws and family members or controlled by whichever faction has more power.

The only way that reform happens is if the government collapses completely, and China really won't let that happen.

An assasination right now is irrelevant.
