Of course it's not a race thing. I never said it was. I don't think anyone gets any privileges based on race alone, except when it comes to initial hiring (diveristy and inclusion metrics for some companies).
Unless we're talking parts of the US, I don't even think 'race' is that relevant anymore.
'Culture' & 'Relgion' are still very relevant, but in my personal experience and in my own mind, I think 'race' is not. If people, from ALL backgrounds, would stop talking about it, it would go away... but they won't.
