No- it's that American commercials are designed to entertain; and are not repeated to the point of making you want to boycott the advertizer. Then you have the Superbowl where the entertainment value is dialed up- giving you four solid hours of TV watching enjoyment.

That, and the Canadian commercials smack you in the face to show the Simsub experiment has failed. The idea was to allow Canadian broadcasters exclusive rights to shows so they could afford to produce quality programming of their own. Instead they just buy more American shows; and make up the Canadian content by either showing 8 hours of news, or things like "Save the children", etc.

One could argue that Cancon on the radio has been a success. As much as many of us hate Nickelback, they are selling albums and making it on the international stage. That couldn't have happened without the CRTC and Cancon. At the very least it does make me happy to see Canadian entertainers being successful.
