BTW, love your motivation in doing this. I bet it's tough to give up everything and start an adventure like the one you're doing.
I'd love to do what you do for sure... my problem is that I want to get my master's done first, and then do what you're doing - it does help in the working abroad world, as I found out when I lived in New Zealand. But I agree with the whole debt thing - just pay it off as fast as possible, sell your possessions and travel / work along the way. Debt elimination is my top priority right now, even above my portfolio.
I couldn't think of a more invigorating thing to do than what you're doing, and you're bucking the trend others want you to do in the process. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
