-Transit is awesome (and cheap!).
-The airport is amazing (and very professional with the security and customs).
-The food is fantastic and very diverse.
-7-11s are everywhere it seems--the people must love them.
-There are hundreds of freighter ships constantly moving through the channel. For someone who has never seen much naval traffic, it's pretty impressive. At night all the ship lights makes it look like another city out on the water.
-It's hot and humid year-round (not my thing for the most part, but air-conditioning is everywhere, and you rarely need to worry about what to wear aside from the rain).
-There are shopping malls everywhere near the city center, and several are connected to each other by underground tunnels, which are also shopping malls (some three levels deep!). If you like shopping, Orchard Road is paradise.
-The Marina Bay Sands resort is sweet. Definitely check out the view from the top.
-A lot seems to depend on where you live and where you work. Travel can still take a while if you're going across town.
-It can also get pretty crowded in places, especially shopping malls and the like.
-The zoo is amazing. I've been there twice and it's incredible how they do things with natural barriers and no cages, for the most part. The lions are literally a ravine-jump away from you as you walk by, and directly opposite the giraffes, as I recall.
