Go to any bar or club in the lower mainland and just people watch. Women here make themselves unapproachable by ensuring they're on the buddy system while throwing in enough attitude that you'd think they just got it for christmas and can't put it down, which doesn't make it impossible and the buddy system as far as safety goes, not the worst thing to do. Now even when a guy does will up the courage (harder for some than others) to go over and talk, if they're not shot down in the first ten seconds then he's doing better than most.
It's amazing how gorgeous some girls in Vancouver think they are. Beauty Queens to be admired from afar, but what the hell are you doing, ######? Talking to me. Pffft as if. And for the record, yes I have heard this though not usually from the girl I approach but from the friend with them. Talk to those girls outside of a bar and they'd tell you that they aren't trying to meet men at bars. Become their friend? They'll whine about being single.
tl;dr
Women are ridiculous.

I have heard this from many women. My question, in general, to them is why would you go to a bar then? The music is terrible, it's almost impossible to have a conversation, drinks are expensive and it smells a little like urine and sweat.
If they really wanted to just hang out with their friends and have a good time, they probably be better of not going to a club.
