Of course the band would be REALLY different without Layne Staley, but they did do a concert thing (they were guests) where they had a bunch of guest singers run out and sing for them.
Jerry Cantrell sang a few, that guy from Puddle of Mudd, and most impressive of all...Maynard! It was pretty cool listening to it, he definitely gave the songs a different feel to them.

I hope they don't reunite, at least under the name "alice in chains"...that band could never be the same without Layne. If they start a new band, i'm fine with it.
