There will be 11 episodes.
They can be found through alternative means, VH1 Classic is not available in Canada, afaik.
Sam and Scott have done 4 documentaries, you may be thinking of "Metal: A headbanger's Journey" and "Global Metal". They have done "Iron Maiden: Flight 666" and "Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage".
The Rush doc I thought was really good, because I found an appreciation for Rush through that doc. I previously hated troll-boy with a passion. I was able to look past my disdain for Getty Lee and appreciate their music.
If you liked the Sam Dunn documentaries you will love the series.
They are working on a new doc called "Satan" which I'm sure will be well done.

MuchMore.ca in Canada is also streaming Metal Evolution online. Hammered through all six episodes on Monday after the Winter Classic.
Fantastic work from Dunn once again, gonna need to rewatch the thrash one again for the scene where he asked why fans like himself felt so betrayed by Metallica's Black Album.
There are some haters on reddit.com/r/metal bellyaching because there's no extreme metal show in this series but one for nu-metal. But I think it's just the typical
more metal than you crowd. Sam Dunn & Scot McFadyen are knocking it out of the park once again. Come one, Sam opened the Glam Episode by declaring he hates Glam Metal. Guy is legit.

I just watched the thrash episode and it was as good as always from Sam. I'll check out the rest of series. Have they released what each episode will be about? I'd like them to do an episode on Scandinavian Melo-Death Metal.

This is what Wikipedia has:- Pre Metal
- Early Metal Part 1: US Division
- Early Metal Part 2: UK Division
- New Wave of British Heavy Metal
- Glam
- Thrash
- Grunge
- Nu Metal
- Shock Rock
- Power Metal
- Progressive Metal
I'm a little confused by the "grunge" episode listed in there. An hour of Alice in Chains?
