If I could recommend a spot it would be something that is walking distance to the saddledome, that way you can party at the casino afterwards but still don't have to take the infested train back to your hotel afterwards.
There are a number of hotels within walking distance. On a cold day, I would say anything south of 8th ave is walk able so that would mean the Hyatt, Le Germain, the Palliser, and Hotel arts (not sure if I forgot any here).
