Your characterization of atheists is incorrect, and your admitted "I don't know" attitude actually makes you an atheist whether you wish to accept that label or not.
As I mentioned above, very few (if any) atheists will assert with 100% certainty that there is no god (not even Richard Dawkins would make that claim). Atheism is the lack of belief in a god given the absence of natural evidence; it
is not a staunch belief that there absolutely, positively is no god.
