Its great to say that he got tied down by a republican majority, but there was a reason why there is now a republican majority.
His treatment of the Keystone Pipeline for example is cynical as best as he wants to delay the creation of a lot of jobs and secured energy sources until after the next election so he can turn to his voter base and proclaim that he's captain environment.
On a foreign policy front besides the death of OBL he's appeared weak and indecisive on the world stage, he acted like a spoiled 5 year old with a major ally in Israel.
As much as people want to think that there is a smear campaign that has caused his tumble in approval, he's not dealing with anything that past presidents on both side of the floor have dealt with. His approval rate has tumbled because in his first three years he has very precious little to show in terms of positive strides forward in key areas like the economy and unemployment and the massive budget cuts required.
He makes a pretty speech, but that only takes you so far, even George Bush Jr (ug) seems to have been better at creating consensus on both sides of the floor

The conversation is nicer when it is supported by general facts and not anecdotes.
1. The bank bailout was enacted under President Bush.
2. I work in the healthcare sector and would be interested in your factual views about how Obamacare has made it a mess. Especially since it has, for the most part, not been enacted yet. Although we're already seeing benefits in insurance coverage. But please, do provide your specific comments on how it has created a mess.
3. On foreign policy, this weak president has basically made the world his drone playground. Israel still gets everything they want; the whole he-hates-Israel deal is just a myth. He has assassinated foreign and US citizens just on the suspicion of "terrorist" activity. If anything, his foreign policy has been brazen and disregardful of human life; but it's not weak.
I would be open to substantive examples that back up your claim. An anecdote here and there is not a meaningful sample to draw a conclusion.
