yes and no, there have been teams that have kept franchise names
Brooklyn Dodgers/Los Angeles
New Orleans Jazz/Utah Jazz
but teams have changed the franchise name
Kansas City Scouts to Colorado Rockies to New Jersey Devils
but I agree most teams have kept the name of the moved franchise in the past
