What do you currently have right now? Honestly, no regular user is going to need more than 8GB of ram. If you have something like 4 or 6GB right now, that is probably fine. Monitor your memory usage in task manager. If you never max it out, there is no need for more ram.
Or for $20, buy this set and place it in slot 1 and slot 3 for optimal dual channel configuration (but as earlier said, it's not a big deal). Put aside or sell your old ram. 8GB will be enough for you.
