I watched the first one and was bored until the end, but the cliffhanger was great so I was pumped for the 2nd one, but I have still not been able to watch it all the way through without falling asleep.
For the record, I like a lot of movies that are critically categorized as hot garbage. It's not worth raging over just because someone criticizes them.

I don't blame you, I was super bored during the middle of the Two Towers too in the theater, but I still really enjoyed the film and that last battle which was like 45 minutes long was amazing.
The trailer was good (for me) because the song the dworves sung was amazing (in my opinion) and gave a fantastic atmosphere for the trailer, even if they didn't show much. Like MMF, it's the sense that you're going to be able to join that world again, that's what excites you, and like I mentioned the song was really good.
