First off all, the trailer just alone probably is just average, but knowing that we are returning to this world, with Peter Jackson again, is what makes people so excited.

People aren't getting excited alone about the trailer, you're right the trailer is average, it's the entire package we are excited about.

I get it though, people like the brand and they like the universe that the movie is set in. It's like Star Wars, Transformers, etc... It doesn't matter how poor the dialogue is or how transparent the plot is, people will love it regardless.

If that was a trailer for a movie by John Doe and it was called; "Happy Little Elf Adventure", I doubt people would be this aroused about it.

As someone else mentioned, maybe they will have a more compelling trailer next year, but just based on this trailer, I can't get excited about this film.
Again, it's probably not based on just the trailer. Peter Jackson did such an amazing jobs on LOTR, that just having stills and a couple simple scenes are enough to get people excited.

We trust him.

Saying you don't like LotR is such a terrible thing I guess.

I watched the first one and was bored until the end, but the cliffhanger was great so I was pumped for the 2nd one, but I have still not been able to watch it all the way through without falling asleep.

For the record, I like a lot of movies that are critically categorized as hot garbage. It's not worth raging over just because someone criticizes them.
You don't like Lord of the Rings, then we even enter the thread? lol

What are you blabbing on with, nostalgia?

I wasn't a Lord of the Rings fan before the movie, I knew the material, but never read the books. The movies (which are great) made me a fan.

You barely made it through the first one, and you don't like it. That's fine, but why even enter the thread then, just to be a dinkus?

If it's to be a dinkus that's fine, I would understand that, because the points you are making are weird.
